This Downtown Hays community recycling project is dedicated to creating a more resilient and healthy community, by reducing waste, conserving resources and promoting sustainability practices in our downtown. We aim to help reduce the carbon footprint by educating and empowering individuals and businesses to adopt environmentally friendly behaviors. In the same way our century-old downtown buildings have been revitalized, recycling can help us to preserve the resources we have and protect the planet for future generations, all while creating a more beautiful downtown for our citizens to enjoy!

As the world becomes increasingly aware of the impact of human activities on the environment, many communities are making efforts to reduce waste by starting recycling programs. This can be especially important for downtown communities where there is often a high concentration of businesses and residents and large volumes of waste are generated.

Our “Go Green on The Bricks” project encourages businesses and residents to work together to accomplish the following goals:

  1. Providing recycling bins for businesses and residents to use.

  2. Educating people about what can and cannot be recycled.

  3. Encouraging businesses to use eco-friendly products and packaging, and to

reduce the amount of waste they generate.

  4. Promoting community-wide events, such as recycling drives or "green"

initiatives, to encourage people to get involved in recycling efforts.

We appreciate your support of this program. Together, our efforts to Go Green will make a significant impact!
