Business Recruitment and Retention Committee
This committee is responsible for aiding in the retention of Downtown Hays businesses. This committee will develop and execute programs in which we as a board can learn about current businesses and what voids we need to fill in Downtown. This committee also aids in the recruitment of new, complementary businesses to Downtown Hays. This committee will work with Downtown merchants, potential business owners, and Grow Hays to actively seek new businesses and keep growing Downtown Hays. Meetings are quarterly and take place on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at 9:15am at Breathe Coffee House.
Physical Improvements Committee
This committee is responsible for pursuing Downtown capital/public improvements. Some of these ideas and projects have been started by DHDC and some will be pulled out of the City Comprehensive Plan. Committee members work closely with the City of Hays staff to design and implement the necessary improvements for Downtown Hays. Such projects may include researching aesthetic improvements such as street lights, new street signs, and landscaping. Meetings are quarterly and take place on the second Friday of January, April, July, and October at Noon.
Branding and Marketing Committee
This committee strives to brand The Bricks in Downtown Hays as a dining, shopping, arts, and entertainment district. This committee is responsible for eNewsletter ideas, website ideas, and other promotional tools such as billboards, radio trivia, and brochures/informational pieces that help brand Downtown Hays. We have come such a long way from the initial focus of DHDC. This committee will consider what has been established and find new and creative ways to market to Hays, travelers, and surrounding communities. This committee will begin meeting in 2021.
